Aubin Pictures is a nonprofit documentary film production company based in New York City. Their mission is to create cultural awareness and strategic, sustainable justice through transformative, community-based production and impactful distribution of media. Their work is collaborative and justice-driven. Their films are about people, communities, and movements. Aubin Pictures strives to shape the way in which problems and priorities are identified, and build narrative power to generate justice-driven change. This re-branding is meant to evoke these values and demonstrate their love for community, inclusion and social change. The new brand is a celebration of 25 years of justice-driven filmmaking.
The identity is an ode to Aubin’s 25 years of justice-driven filmmaking. The design was focused on two things: the typography and the colors. The typography is modern to show Aubin’s path towards the future. Looking at the word Aubin you can appreciate that the A is slightly tilted and the N is flipped to demonstrate how the team and the films have a unique way of thinking about things. The colors are grounded, warm and resilient.
The color scheme has an earthy feel with vibrant colors. It represents inclusion, resilience and change through distinctive shades of grounded colors.
Aubin Pictures website was designed to fit a large amount of information. For each project there is a detailed description of the individuals involved and the path to take action. The user can navigate the site and learn about Aubin’s history, the team behind the projects and learn extensively about the films. You can view the site at https://aubinpictures.com/
Change through design is only possible if you build a community that believes in the change that you are trying to empower.
